Magnetorheological Damper and Its Applications: Current Scenario and Future Prospects

Abstract

In recent years, magnetorheological dampers have been paid more attention because of their smart nature. This paper explains in detail the mathematical background of magnetorheological fluids, their use in MR dampers, and its applications in vibration control. The purpose of this paper is to delineate how to derive equations of motion for dynamics of MR dampers for different degrees of freedom and how to find their responses for various damping forces. In this paper, the performance of a MR damper are compared by MATLAB simulation.
